I think using the last name is a good idea. It makes you sound like a specific business instead of a broad idea, but still doesn't limit you too badly. A friend recently started her own business called "Cooper Green Design" because she helps businesses create green buildings and make green choices (she's an architect). The name seems to work really well for her for 2 reasons: It is obviously a business name (mostly due to the last name being used) and it's obvious what type of work she does.

Thanks Megan! I like having "Dowell" in it too...just didn't know if it sounded too cheesy or not! And I agree on having the company name reflect what the company actually does!
